Used van values take a hit in April

The first “tangible signs” of price pressure and falling demand in the used commercial vehicle market were recorded in April, according to data from auction house BCA. Figures for April show that average values fell just over 5 per cent compared to March, while sold volumes declined significantly by over 31 per cent, month on month.

UK sees November recovery in new CV sales

New van and truck sales rose 32.5 per cent in November to 22,834 units and year-to-date sales are ahead 15.7 per cent to 237,113 units. Van sales rose 26.1 per cent to 19,128 units in November and year to date are ahead 19.4 per cent to 219,966 units. Truck sales rose 79.6 per cent in November to 3,706 units but year to date are down 4.2 per cent, indicating the late recovery in that segment.

Vans come under pressure at auction

Conversion rates for vans continue to fall at auction with retail interest and footfall in decline. There has also been a “significant increase” in wholesale van volumes, particularly of vehicles less than three years of age coming to market, according to Manheim Remarketing.
