January nearly new car values fall 19 per cent

Values of nearly new cars plummeted in January down 18.8 per cent or a decline of over £4,000. The average price fell from £21,691 in December to £17,619 a month later as volumes going through auction doubled, according to the BCA Pulse report. UK-builtNissan customers offered free loan cars

Nissan customers facing a wait of three months or more for their new cars will be offered free loan cars as the company moves to address long lead times on its UK-built Juke, Qashqai and Qashqai+2 models. Customers ordering a new Juke will be offered the use of a Micra, while Qashqai and Qashqai+2 buyers will be offered the use of a Note.

Report warns franchised dealers to spread risk

The Top 10 dealer groups continue to benefit from the ongoing consolidation taking place in the motor trade. Over the 11 years to 2008 their share of new sales increased from 15 per cent to 23 per cent, according to the Economies of Scale in the UK Franchised Retail Motor Industry report from Bryan Consulting.
