Smart Repairs sees turnover up 23% in Q1 to £2.1m

Smart Repairs has announced a 23% hike in first quarter turnover to £2.1m as it expanded the business from its northern base.

The group said that overall turnover is predicted to rise to more than £9m this year.

It now has 100 staff with 40 based in Leeds and plans to recruit another 15 technicians in 2023.

Smart Repairs.co.uk is co-owned by founder Dan Besau and investor Phil Newstead. The company carries out more than 200,000 vehicle repairs a year.

Darryl Short, managing director, said the decision to expand had paid off. “Apart from making serious inroads in Cornwall, Devon, Cardiff, Swansea and Newport, we have recently expanded into Scotland and we have further sustainable growth plans for the North West, the Midlands and the area by the M25 around London.”

Phil Newstead said: “The second-hand car market remains buoyant, despite the cost-of-living crisis and the current economic uncertainty.

In a citation Leeds-based dealer JCT600 said: “Smart Repairs.co.uk are a valued partner who are very much aligned with our own company values and ethos. We are delighted to have worked together over numerous years and watch their business grow across Yorkshire.”
