Arnold Clark is expanding its workforce with a recruitment drive for technicians.
The dealer group is looking for 200 technicians to fill new roles in locations, including Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Inverness. The vacant roles include vehicle preparation maintenance technicians.
The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has warned the motor retail sector is failing to train enough technicians in electric technology to keep pace with growing electric vehicle (EV) sales.
This month Ford announced that it wanted to recruit 1,000 trained technicians to the Ford UK dealer network.
Earlier this year Pendragon raised the salaries of its technicians across the country as part of a strategy to retain talented team members and attract new talent. It is looking for 300 technicians. Inchcape is also actively seeking apprentices.
Jacquie Sherry, Arnold Clark Group recruitment manager, said: ‘It’s an exciting time as Arnold Clark continues to grow its footprint and deliver new services.
“That means we need more technicians to join our dedicated team to help maintain our outstanding levels of customer satisfaction. In return for their skills, they’ll get to work in our leading-edge facilities and enjoy some fantastic benefits.”
The dealer group is hoping to attract candidates with benefits, including flexible hours, private medical insurance, life assurance, a contributory pension scheme and a range of discounts on new and used cars.
It also offers industry qualifications and training at its three GTG Training centres.
The group, which has 130 service centres located throughout the UK, is rated four in the Motor Trader Top 200 with annual turnover of £3.4bn.
