Arnold Clark opens first Electric Car Centre in Sydenham South London

Arnold Clark is opening an ‘Electric Car Centre’ in Sydenham in South London.

The centre, open seven days a week, will have 30 all-makes electric vehicles (EV) on-site available to test-drive and buy.

The branch, on the outskirts of London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), will target customers that may need to change their car to meet the requirements.

The Electric Car Centre in Sydenham will also serve as Click and Collect location. Another Electric Car Centre is set to open in Altrincham in the coming weeks.

Arnold Clark already has Innivation Centres in Glasgow and Stafford. The new centre is a hybrid model of a typical car showroom and the Innovation Centres.

Innovation Centres are solely focused on educating customers and are non-selling sites. At the Electric Car Centres, customers can still learn more about EVs, however, there are also the EVs on-site to purchase.

Martin Coyle, franchise manager at Arnold Clark, said: ‘We are delighted to open our first retail site in London, making it even easier for customers to access our network.

“As the first branch of its kind within the Arnold Clark Group, we’re looking forward to sharing our knowledge with our customers so they can understand the full potential of electric vehicles.”

Last month, Arnold Clark announced plans to install over 500 electric vehicle chargers across the UK in an investment worth £23m.

Arnold Clark customers will have access to the ‘Arnold Clark Charge’ network, which will be available to book safely and securely on a 24/7 basis.

Eight rapid chargers, with the ability to charge up to 150kW, will be installed at larger Arnold Clark branches, with four to six rapid chargers installed at smaller branches.
