Next April’s ATS aftermarket trade show will be bundled within the SMMT’s Commercial Vehicle Show.
Traditionally the aftermarket event has run in parallel with the van show in a separate hall but the organisers have decided to merge the exhibitions with a designated ATS area within the van show.
The aftermarket section will be merged next year
“We’re moving ATS into the main CV Show to avoid any confusion – we will not be promoting it as a separate event but as a zone within the CV Show,” said a spokesman for the CV Show.
SMMT review
The spokesman said the floor-space devoted to the ATS exhibitors would be bigger than in previous years.
He also said the number of exhibitors for the combined event was currently around the 600 mark which he claimed was ahead of this time last year.
The exhibition will be held at Birmingham’s NEC from 15-17 April.
The SMMT took the decision after reviewing some continental automotive trade
shows.
However, there is currently no information on the ATS show on the CV Show’s website. The spokesman said the ATS zone will continue to be organised by Crystal Communications.
Rival show
“The risk of running separate events is they can look like graveyards by the early afternoon. We looked at some European shows where they had mixed everyone together and they were busy because everyone was in one place,” he said.Meanwhile, Haymarket Exhibitions’ rival Aftermarket Show will continue to run as an add-on to the Autosport Show when it runs from 10-13 January at the NEC.
The organiser is claiming the event is bigger than before with 29 exhibitors so far confirmed. It also claimed that last year’s event saw a 25 per cent rise in visitor numbers to 5,600.
Next month’s show will also incorporate a TalkShop business forum which will see a number of industry topics discussed including the Right to Repair campaign, good garage schemes and replacement parts.
