MG is generating 21% of all brand-new EV enquires, according to the latest data on Auto Trader. MG is followed by BMW (8.9%) and Nissan (5.2%).
Auto Trader’s top three most in demand brand-new EVs in October are the MG4 (9.2% of enquiries), MG5 (5.5%), and MG ZS (4.9%). Demand is helped by a range of offers, with the average discount applied to the MG4 around 20% circa 30% for the MG5 and MG ZS.
BYD and Omoda are also recording notable growth in enquiries. BYD is October’s fastest growing new car marque overall.
Omoda is currently the sixth fastest rising model despite its discounts being amongst the lowest in the new car market at just 5.2%.
Auto Trader’s New Car Performance Director, Bex Kennett, said: “Over the last few months we’ve seen brands and retailers work hard to stimulate consumer demand, and we’re seeing the result on our platform.
“Despite the natural softening expected following a plate change month, the underlying interest in new cars remains robust as the combination of choice and affordability plays through.
“To support, we’ll continue to invest in our new-car marketing campaign. Since its launch we’ve seen a 15% year-on-year uplift in new car enquiries.”
