Motordepot offers free vehicle history check for car stock online

Car supermarket Motordepot is featuring free vehicle history data alongside dealer stock advertised online, which is an industry first.

This is the result of collaboration with trade-only vehicle check provider, MotorCheck and automotive software specialist Nexus Point.

Buyers can confirm that the vehicle they are looking at has been checked for insurance write-off flags, stolen markers and mileage discrepancies.

The check also looks at whether the vehicle has been scrapped or had a colour change, and displays information on previous keepers, plate changes and MOT and tax status.

Buyers can also instantly print out a MotorCheck report for reference.

Phil Wilkinson, CEO at Motordepot, said: “We were already thrilled to be working with MotorCheck and making a significant saving on our car history checks.

“This new integration between MotorCheck and Nexus Point hasn’t introduced any new costs and is certainly improving the experience for our customers online. It’s innovative features like this that help us to attract new customers, keep them on our website when they get there and ultimately increase our enquiry rate.”

Shane Teskey, co-founder of MotorChec, added: “This is an exciting collaboration that is driving a big shift in the used car sector.

This new provenance check model, powered by Nexus Point, brings greater transparency to used car buying, providing the fullest possible picture of a vehicle’s history and increases the trust between a buyer and seller, ultimately delivering a boost in sales opportunities as car buyers know they can shop with complete confidence”.

Chris Webb, managing director of Nexus Point, concludes: “This new venture not only brings to market a ‘first’ for dealers, but adds real value to the Motordepot proposition for used car buyers.

“We anticipate that this approach, which makes vehicle history data more accessible to the wider public, will be a must have for all retailer classified listings in the future.”
