Chapelhouse Motors is to represent Chinese manufacturer Chery’s Chery Omoda and Jaecoo brands.
The North West dealer group, which currently holds the Kia, MG and Suzuki brands, is to install the brands in two locations.
Chapelhouse is the latest group to take on Omoda, joining Endeavour Automotive, Listers, Peter Vardy and Listers in the line-up.
The first model to come to the UK is the OMODA 5, a mid-size SUV, powered by a 1.6-litre TGDI petrol engine that offers 187bhp and 275Nm with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
The all-electric-version of the OMODA 5 comes with a 61kWh battery with a 204bhp front-mounted electric motor, 280 miles of range and a recharging capacity of 110kW. It is capable of a 0-62mph sprint in 7.8 seconds.
Chapelhouse managing director Phil Clay told Motor Trader: “I talked to quite a few of the new Chinese brands that were coming over and for me it was important to get a brand that was aligned with our business.
“The brand that stood out for me was Chery. Most of the Chinese brands coming over are full EV and at this moment in time I don’t think the infrastructure is quite where it needs to be. Chery is bringing over ICE vehicles initially and hybrid vehicles, and they’re bringing over a full battery EV.
“So yes, I’ve agreed to do two locations. They are well priced, good quality products that I think will do well in the UK,” said Clay.
