Currie Motors is top of the charts when it comes to pay with the average employee receiving £45,088 a year.
The dealer group, which represents Lexus, Seat and Toyota in Greater London, has over 500 staff on its books and an annual wage bill of £23m.
That’s one of the findings of the Motor Trader Top 200 Dealer Groups which saw Park Lane Group in second place with an average employee salary of £44,186. With 215 employees on its books its annual wage bill is £9.5m.
Luxury car dealer HR Owen, which was sold to Berjaya Philippines in 2013, was in third position with an average employee salary of £42,355. It now has 538 employees on its payroll and an annual wage bill of £22.8m.
Toyota specialist the Jemca car group, which has 540 staff on its payroll, was in fourth position with an average employee salary of £41,529.
And Harwoods with a headcount of 822 was in fifth place with an average employee salary of £37,295.
The top 10 table (below) was based solely on those businesses for which figures were available, excluding estimates. It only included those groups reporting year-ends from June 2016.
Other groups in the Top 10 were Glyn Hopkin (Average employee: £36,795); TC Harrison Group (£36,123), Jardine Motors (£35,630), Marsh Wall (£35,516) and Rybrook Holdings (£34,846).
