Dodge brags about its extra seven inches, a classic Mini ad from the 60’s and a spectacular car crash with a twist…

Dodge got a hefty rap on the knuckles and had this cheeky US ad for the new Durango banned. Full of innuendo and censored all because of an extra seven inches – whatever can they mean?

Car advertising isn’t what it once was. Back in the eighties it was none of your fancy ‘concept’ advertising, just the good old fashioned hard sell like Austin Rover’s VFM campaign. That’s Value For Money they’ll have you know, including value added equipment like automatic transmission, electric windows and errrr a radio cassette player! Sticking with the classic theme here’s a 1960’s advert for the Mini Deluxe. Ground breaking suspension makes it the ‘in car’ to drive apparently. According to the retro voiceover the all new Mini features windows that go up AND down. Thank god for that then. Here’s a cop car chase with a difference. Nope, it’s not the fact that our Phoenix bank robber decides to use an HGV as a getaway vehicle, or that he switches the lorry for a truck. Just wait and see what fate awaits ABC News’ very own ‘Eye in the Sky’.
