Nearly 90 per cent of drivers said CO2 emissions would influence the choice of their next company car, according to an online survey.
Vehicle management provider Leasedrive Velo Group surveyed 1,074 drivers, 87 per cent of whom said the environment would influence their decision.
On top of this, 64 per cent said they would be willing to pay £40 or more to offset their company car’s emissions for a fixed annual fee.
“Clearly, company car drivers are more aware than ever before of their green responsibilities and are not only willing to trade down next time to a company car with lower CO2 emissions but are also prepared to back this up by becoming carbon neutral drivers,” said Roddy Graham, commercial director at Leasedrive Velo.
Of the drivers surveyed, 76 per cent currently drive a diesel, 23 per cent a petrol vehicle and 1 per cent a hybrid.
For their next company car, 68 per cent said they would stick with a diesel and 19 per cent with petrol, while 10 per cent said they would choose a hybrid.
