Facebook launches new tools for UK car dealers

Facebook has launched two new tools for car dealers as the social media giant moves to increase its offering to the UK car retailing sector.

Facebook,  a long established player in the US car retailing market, is now making a strategic move to offer more services to dealers in the UK.

A spokesman confirmed the UK car retailing market was now a “focus sector” for Facebook.

The new Facebook Dynamic Ads for Autos tool, which was previously available to the grocery and fashion sectors, will enable dealers to upload their vehicles with relevant details, including make, model and year to Facebook.

Facebook’s launch statement said the tool would “automatically generate ads that show the most compelling inventory to the right audiences; driving them towards looking at the vehicle’s details and registering their contact details to hear more.

“This helps dealers ensure that their most relevant vehicles are always being shown to the right potential auto buyers—allowing them to focus on closing the sale.

The social media platform has also introduced  Facebook Lead Ads for Auto which enables buyers to upload their contact details, straight from their Facebook accounts, to receive more information on advertisements posted by dealers.

Earlier this month dealers were urged to make more use of low cost advertising on Facebook.

The call came from Jeremy Evans, managing director of Marketing Delivery, in the Motor Trader Digital Marketing Webinar, held in association with CarGurus, which focused on Maximising Your Digital Marketing Spend.

Evans said dealers had an opportunity to increase their marketing reach by better utilising Facebook advertising and using the platform’s pixel analytics tool to track usage.

“The targeting tools and ad types are developing rapidly, also engagement is high and still relatively cheap compared to other digital channels,” he said.
