Ford reveals new Mustang model for Europe

Ford has revealed its new European Mustang model ahead of sales starting in 2018.

The new-look muscle car features a sleeker exterior design, an enhanced 450PS 5.0‑litre V8 engine, Ford’s new 10‑speed automatic transmission and 11 body colours. It will be available as a hard top and convertible.

The car has been specially tuned for the European market and features MagneRide adjustable suspension and selectable drive modes, including a new customisable My Mode option. A new active valve performance exhaust even delivers an innovative Good Neighbour Mode for quieter early-morning or late-night driving.

Driver assistance technologies will include Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Keeping Aid.

The new interior promises to be upmarket featuring soft-touch materials and a 12-inch all-digital LCD instrument cluster.

“Europe’s passion for the Ford Mustang has proven even greater than we imagined – almost 30,000 Mustangs are already bringing one of the most iconic sights in motoring to the continent’s streets,” said Steven Armstrong, Ford’s group vice president and president for Europe.

“There are few cars on the road that can deliver such a combination of heritage, style and performance to such a wide audience. The new Ford Mustang offers the most compelling package yet.”

A wide range of customisation options will be available including three new metallic paint colours – Kona Blue, Orange Fury and Royal Crimson – and new 19-inch forged alloy wheels in multiple finishes.

Prices have yet to be released.
