The new generation Mazda3 will go on sale in UK dealerships in January 2014 priced from £16,695.
The model, which was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show, will be available as both hatchbacks and saloons, with Mazda reviving the Fastback nomenclature for the latter models. The decision to use that name was taken by Mazda UK. Managing director Jeremy Thomson said it will help position the car against premium sector rivals including the new Audi A3 saloon and Mercedes-Benz CLA.
The range also sees the further roll out of the brand’s SKYACTIV technology with a choice of 1.5 (100PS) and 2.0-litre (120PS and 165PS) petrol engines and a 2.2-litre (150PS) diesel engine.
The line-up will feature 21 hatchbacks (including eight diesel models) and 15 fastbacks, five of those with diesel power. Buyers can choose between five equipment levels (SE, SE Nav, SE-L, SE-L Nav and Sport Nav). Prices for SE models start at £16,695, SE-L versions cost from £18,495 and Sport Nav derivatives will be priced from £19,895.
