Harwoods profits jump 23% to £16.9m in 2016

Harwoods_Portsmouth_Audi_620Harwoods turned in a strong performance in 2016 with pre-tax profits up 23.3% to £16.9m on turnover ahead 12.6% to £612.4m.

The south eastern-based group said it had an “excellent” year with the main franchises it holds – Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, Jeep and Mini – performing well.

It was a year of churn for its Land Rover and Jaguar interests as JLR moved to have joint ownership of the two brands in most territories.

During the year Harwoods bought a Jaguar dealership from Cambria Automobiles in Croydon and a Land Rover dealership in Lewes from Caffyns. The company sold its Land Rover dealership in Tonbridge to Lancaster Motor Company.

In January Motor Trader reported that Harwoods planned to buy land from Chichester College for a new Jaguar Land Rover business in Pulborough.

In the last published Motor Trader Top 200 Harwoods was rated 18 with annual turnover of £553.2m.

Harwoods is based across the South of England with dealerships in Basingstoke, Bramshaw, Brighton, Crawley, Chichester, Croydon, Edenbridge, Five Oaks, Portsmouth, Pulborough and Southampton.
