Garages that are members of the recently launched Kitemark scheme are successfully capturing work from the franchised dealer sector.
Independents are seeing more warranty work
According to the
British Standards Institute – which launched the initiative last year – licensees of the Kitemark claim the programme has helped them attract new servicing business.
BSI claims the scheme has helped the independent sector gain more additional repair work than the introduction of the block exemption regulations in 2003.
The Kitemark has been instrumental for us in attracting new work
Abacus Auto Services, a member of the kitemark scheme, said the programme had helped boost its servicing work from cars that were still within the warranty period.
“The Kitemark has been instrumental for us in attracting new vehicle repair work,” said managing director Paul Chance.
“Motorists trust what they are being told by the manufacturer’s dealership but the Kitemark for garage services addresses the balance and enhances consumer trust in our business.”
