Bodyshops continue top face delays in sourcing parts for repairs with a growing number of vehicles being written off as a result.
That’s the view of the National Body Repair Association (NBRA), which said repairers are searching for new ways to cut costs, including sourcing green parts.
Chris Weeks, executive director at the NBRA said: “NBRA recently heard from repairers about the issues they are having regarding parts delays and the vehicle being written off. We recently sent out a survey for our members to complete asking their experience on the matter.”
The NBRA asked whether suppliers were inflating prices as a result of shortages and also asked in the real world whether green parts cheaper than OE parts?
Some bodyshops are turning to green parts from companies like SYNETIQ, a vehicle salvage, dismantler and recycler.
Its parts are claimed to be “significantly cheaper” and more “environmentally friendly” than sourcing OE parts.
