Kia extends seven year warranty to all new cars

Kia is rolling out its seven year warranty across all new cars, having previously restricted the deal to its European built Ceed and Sportage models.

European coverage
The move applies to all new models sold in over 20 European countries from 1 January and is believed to have been masterminded by Kia’s new European chief operating officer Paul Philpott, the former boss of the carmaker’s UK operations.

“We have already declared our intention to become the world’s number one carmaker for customer satisfaction and our new 7-Year Kia Warranty on all models is a major step towards achieving that goal,” he said.

Build quality
Kia is the only car brand to offer a seven year warranty and the move suggests the brand is now confident the build quality of its Korean sourced cars match those of models built at its new European plants.

“The warranty covers every vehicle in our line-up for up to seven years – and no-one in the business can boast that. Even better, the warranty is transferable to subsequent owners bringing a big boost for used values,” said Michael Cole, Kia’s UK managing director.

T&Cs
There is no mileage limit to the warranty for the first three years, except for vehicles used as taxis, when coverage is limited to 100,000 miles. Over the full period of the warranty, the overall mileage limit is 100,000 miles.

Under the scheme paintwork is covered for five years, depending on model, audio for three years and 60,000 miles and service parts, accessories and batteries for two years.
