Land Rover launches Commercial version of the Discovery

Land Rover has launched an LCV version of the Discovery SUV.

Orders are now being taken for the Discovery Commercial at prices starting from £48,695 on the road (including £8,066.67 of VAT), and ranging up to £59,995. First deliveries are expected in Q2 of 2018.

The Commercial is evolved directly from the Discovery SUV, but replaces the second and third row of seats with a load space 1635mm long, 939mm high and 1411mm wide. The resultant carrying capacity is 1,856 litres, able to accept loads of up to 1000 x 735mm in size.

Land Rover insists that the Discovery Commercial offers all of the specification and technology that is available on the standard SUV model. All-wheel-drive is standard, as is an automatic transmission with a two-speed transfer box and air suspension.

Land Rover’s Terrain Response System is fitted, with the driver able to select modes to match the chassis and powertrain settings to the surface being traversed. Available as an option is the Terrain Response 2 upgraded version that automatically changes the settings depending on driving conditions.

An extensive specification of safety systems are driver aids is included, with autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning, hill-start assist and hill-descent control all standard. Handling aids such as roll stability, cornering and gradient control are also included, as is a trailer stability assist system – the Discovery offering a 3.5-tonne towing capacity.

The Discovery Commercial will be available with both the 2.0-litre 240hp Ingenium and 3.0-litre V6 258hp diesel engines, with a £1,500 premium for the larger engine. Customers will also be able to select from three trim levels.
