LDV to launch new small electric van at CV show 2019

LDV will unveil a new EV van at the 2019 Commercial Vehicle Show.

It will be the smaller version of the first electric vehicle launched by LDV, the EV80. This model has a 120-mile range on a single charge and can be fully charged in less than 90 minutes.

The new EV will be the first model launched by LDV that will be specifically designed and manufactured as a pure-electric van tailored for the UK market, and will go on sale in 2020.

Details are being kept quiet until the unveiling at the CV Show.

LDV has billed the EV80 for city driving and says that it is already being used by delivery and utility companies, together with selected city councils across the UK.

The van features an advanced “pure electric power” along with a digital intelligent CVT, which adjusts the torque and output power of the motor under different conditions to smooth the vans, ride.

Mark Barrett, general manager of LDV U.K. & Ireland, said that the manufacturer is fully committed to greener motoring and is confident that switching to electric motoring can future-proof a business.

“Investing in one or indeed a fleet of EVs will cut down long-term operational costs for a business, and there has never been a better time to make the change to emission-free fleets thanks to Government grant schemes.

“Electric powered vehicles are no longer a novelty or a green trophy on the road and will soon become the norm and this is reflected in the number of automotive brands, both in the domestic and commercial markets, which are moving their focus from fuel-dependent engines to hybrids and pure-electric models.”
