Our annual look at the financial performance of the Top 200 Franchised Dealers in the UK shows a sector in good health.
The sector is employing 6,000 more people that it was a year ago and the report reveals who is paying what to get the best staff they can.
The pace of consolidation is less frenetic than in the past but the top 10 super groups still managed to increase their share of total Top 200 turnover to 44.8% from 44% last time. The combined MT Top 200 turnover rose 5.9% to Β£73bn.
But numbers tell only part of the story. True, strong leadership has an important role to play in running modern dealerships.
But critically important are the employees who make everything happen at the sharp end from trainees and apprentices to sales staff, technicians, marketing, digital and aftersales.
Thatβs why our Rising Stars event is so important. Held in association with Northridge Finance we are looking for people who are already regarded as outstanding talents, have great business acumen and are seen as an inspiration to their peers.
Itβs easy to take part and entries are now open to anyone who has joined the sector in the last five years.
We want to hear from staff involved in all areas of car retailing, regardless of job title, from sales and aftersales to administration and management. All entrants must be nominated by their managers. Itβs a great event. Click here to get the full details and nominate a Rising Star in 2019.
