Mercedes-Benz_E_Class_Estate_620Mercedes-Benz has announced the spec and prices for the Mercedes E-Class Estate

Priced from £37,935, the sixth-generation Estate follows the saloon, which arrived in UK showrooms in May.

It is built on an all-new platform that uses high-strength steel and aluminium to produce significant weight savings, while the shell is also completely redesigned, lower than its predecessor with its styling based on the smaller C-Class.

Estate buyers will initially have only one model to choose from, the

E 220 d with a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbodiesel of 194PS and 400NM of torque. It returns a 0-62mph time of 7.7 seconds with combined cycle fuel economy of 67.3mpg and CO2 emissions of 109g/km.

Estate models will be offered in SE and AMG Line trim levels. Standard equipment on SE models includes a Garmin Map Pilot navigation system; Agility Control suspension; automatic powered tail gate; parking sensors including a camera; chrome roof rails; LED interior lighting with 64 colour options; keyless starting; heated front seats; a DAB radio and 17-inch alloys with a five-spoke design.

AMG Line models start at £40,430 and add bespoke AMG exterior styling with 19-inch alloy wheels in titanium grey; leather on the upper dashboard; black ash wood trim; stainless steel AMG sports pedals and a three-spoke AMG steering wheel in Nappa leather.

From October dealers will be able to offer two more models, the E 350 d diesel and the Mercedes-AMG E 43 with its 3-litre V6 petrol engine. Prices will be announced closer to their launch.

Meanwhile the E-Class saloon range now has a new entry-level model with the arrival in showrooms of the 150PS 2-litre E 200 d. Its 72.4mpg combined cycle consumption figure and CO2 emissions of 102g/km are likely to find interest with fleet buyers.

According to figures from the SMMT Mercedes-Benz UK registrations grew more than 18% in the first six months of 2016 and globally Mercedes-Benz sales topped one million for the first time in a six-month period. However management are warning of uncertainty ahead in the UK market following the vote to leave the European Union.
