MG Motor UK expands dealer network

MG Motor UK is expanding its dealer network

The carmaker, a subsidiary of SAIC, China’s largest carmaker, has identified 45 key open points in Britain and is talking with 25 prospective dealers.

It currently has 38 dealers and six authorised repairers but said the launch of the MG6 later this year had sparked “significant interest in the brand.

MG Motor UK franchise and dealer development manager, David Martin, said: “News of the MG6 created a huge amount of interest and there are a lot of people very interested in representing the MG brand and investing in dealerships.

“We are in talks now with a number of interested parties and we are now in discussions to appoint an initial 10 to 15 new dealers within the next few months.

“It’s great to see so much genuine interest and enthusiasm from people who want to be part of the new MG story.”

The MG6 will be the first all-new MG to be sold in Britain in 16 years.

It was designed and engineered at the MG Birmingham site where final assembly of the car also takes place.

The MG3 (pictured) recently shown in China takes on many styling clues from the MG Zero concept car designed in Birmingham.
