Mitsubishi sees rise in plug-in orders ahead of grant cut

Mitsubishi_generic_620Mitsubishi dealers are seeing a rise in orders for the Outlander PHEV ahead of changes to the government’s Plug-in Car Grant which will see the rate halved on vehicles bought after 1 March 2016.

The rate reduces from £5,000 to £2,500 but the full rate will be honoured on all vehicles ordered before 1 March and delivered within nine months and Mitsubishi has moved to reassure customers that it will be able supply models in time.

“The announcement that the plug-in car grant will reduce has brought a wave of interest in the Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV from buyers looking to beat the deadline. However we would like to reassure buyers that we o not have any issues relating to stock or delivery lead times,” said Toby Marshall, sales and marketing director.

“We are having many more enquires than usual, as buyers are looking to order their Outlander PHEV before the grant reduces. Dealers are reporting a huge increase in interest and website traffic is higher than ever. That said we do have the vehicles in stock to satisfy demand.”

The Outlander PHEV is the UK’s best-selling plug-in and currently accounts for around half of all plug-in car grant applications. Demand for the vehicle helped Mitsubishi increase registrations by 43.5% in 2015.
