Mercedes will begin deliveries of right hand drive E Class plug in hybrids next spring with prices starting from £47,500.
This is for the entry level E 300e, which is being sold in saloon only guise and is powered by a 211hp. 2.0 litre turbo petrol engine, mated to a 122hp, electric motor producing 440 Nm of torque. When using both power sources the car has a 700 Nm torque rating.
Mercedes claims the model is capable of a combined 134.5mph, emits 46g/km of CO2, has a top speed of 155mph and can reach 62mph in 5.7 seconds.
With a 13.5 kWh battery the E 300e has a theoretical pure electric range of 31 miles and can be charged ‘between 10 and 100% in under two hours’ with a 7.4 kW charger or in less than four hours using a UK specification, three pin domestic socket.
Standard equipment across the range includes a blind spot assistance feature, windscreen ‘cockpit’ system, four USB ports, touch pad with controller, door sill illumination and split-folding rear seats.
There is also an AMG Line version which features a model specific body kit, larger, five spoke alloy wheels, wood trim, leather upholstery and privacy glass amongst other features. There are further Premium and Premium Plus and Comfort options packs that add additional equipment, such as air suspension.
This model completes the range of petrol/electric plug in versions of E Class.
