Well, England have done it! They’ve managed to negotiate their way out of Group C with a 1-0 win over Slovenia and a much improved performance. Their reward for securing the runners up spot? A second round clash with Germany. As always, if England are going to progress they will have to do it the hard way. Is there any other way for an England fan?

We are now half way through the final group games and we now know that France are out of the tournament (no doubt bickering all the way home), the USA and South Korea have made it to the next round and the hosts have failed to make it out of their group – the first time this has happened in World Cup history.

Argentina cruised through their group as winners and we all know the Germans made it through to play England on Sunday. Uruguay, Mexico and Ghana are also into the next round. How else will join them?

With the first predictions coming in and the points being counted, the early leaderboard looks like this:

1 Nick Jaye = 9 points
2 Richard Carde = 9
3 Simon Cook = 9
4 Colin Rowe = 8
5 Kevin Gordon = 8
6 Kim Reddick  = 8
7 Neil Jorgensen  = 8
8 Samir Jones = 8
9 Alan Toogood = 7
10 David Chantrell = 7

Nick Jaye, Richard Carde and Simon Cook lead the way, but will they still be there by the end of the week.

Come back on Monday to see the full leaderboard.

Fingers crossed (again) for Sunday 3pm…
