New sales chief at Mazda

mark_cameron_mazda_largeMark Cameron has been promoted to sales & marketing director at Mazda Motors UK.

The move is a result of the recent restructure of the sales and marketing functions at Mazda Motor Europe, with both departments now reporting to Philip Waring, chief operating officer.

Cameron took on the role of sales director in October 2008 from the role of marketing director, a position he had held since July 2005.

Prior to that, Cameron spent five months responsible for Mazda’s product strategy in the UK as brand manager, following a move from Ford.

Jeremy Thomson, managing director of Mazda UK, is optimistic about the appointment.

“Over three years as marketing director, Mark strengthened the perception of the brand with levels of purchase consideration reaching a record high in 2008,” he said.

“This was achieved through an innovative mix of marketing communications with a strong emphasis on experiential marketing, sponsorship and digital media.

“Since moving to the role of sales director, Mark has delivered outstanding results despite market conditions – as we move into even more difficult trading conditions, Mark’s main priority will be to continue to promote the brand to achieve both higher footfall in dealerships and higher levels of purchase consideration.”
