Perrys partners with college to provide work experience for technicians

Perrys Group has partnered with West Notts College in a work experience scheme.

Technicians gain experience in the workshops as part of their motor vehicle technician studies at the college.

Perrys Mansfield aftersales manager Michael Nicholson and HR manager Jill Baxter want to attract young people to a career as a motor vehicle technician via an apprenticeship, earning while they are learning valuable skills.

Nicholson said: “It has been a rewarding experience to be able to provide opportunities for these young people.

“As learners they will gain hands-on experience and have the support of the college to develop their technical skills.”

The collaboration with West Notts College has given students the ability to sample the industry, which has already led to apprenticeships for three young people.

West Notts College have put up a Perrys flag in their workshop to show their support for the relationship with Perrys and encourage others to explore opportunities.

The apprentices continue to learn technical skills at West Nott College on a day release basis.

“It is wonderful to be able to bring the next generation into the motor industry and give them a life-long career.

“I completed my apprenticeship training at West Notts College back in 2000, so it an extra special relationship for me.
