Rolls-Royce opens new site in China

rolls_royce_china250Rolls-Royce opened its sixth showroom in China this week in the city of Hangzhou.

The 400 sq.m site will house up to four models from the luxury brand.

Tom Purves, Rolls-Royce CEO, said at the opening: “This latest milestone is the first of several showroom openings which we announced in our Asia Pacific expansion plan at AutoChina 2008 in Beijing, earlier this year.”

Purves unveiled the new Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupé, the first time the two-door, four-seater grand tourer has been shown in the city.

Rolls-Royce claimed the model had played a crucial role in attracting new customers to the brand – nearly two-thirds of the Coupé’s buyers worldwide have not owned a Rolls-Royce before.

Rolls-Royce has a four model line-up for 2008 – the Phantom, Phantom Extended Wheelbase, Phantom Drophead Coupé and Phantom Coupé.

The carmaker has seen a considerable boost in worldwide sales to the end of August – up 52 per cent. In 2007 its Chinese sales increased by 51 per cent compared to 2006.
Other Rolls-Royce showrooms in Greater China are located at Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
