Paint manufacturer AkzoNobel has developed a new tool aimed at calculating, reducing and offsetting carbon emissions in the bodyshop industry.
The AkzoNobel Eco Sustainability Scan measures the current carbon footprint of a bodyshop and gives advice on how to reduce and offset carbon emissions.
Seward Accident Repair Centres is the first bodyshop group to use the programme.
Ian Clark, director of Seward, said: βThe team from AkzoNobel guided us through the process and their Eco Sustainability Scan allowed us to pull together data from all our sites and compare the performance of each of our bodyshops.β
Seward has been trying to make green strides for awhile now.
The group said it has been working for several years on a phased programme to install the latest technology energy efficient spraybooth.
Seward also has a comprehensive recycling process and uses all available environmentally friendly paint and ancillary products in the repair process.
