Audis are more expensive to repair than BMW and Mercedes-Benz models.
That’s the overall conclusion of research carried out by WhoCanFixMyCar which examined thousands of service and repair quotes it received from garages for customers over the past 12 months.
Looking at cars aged 0-15 years old, the average estimate for all repair types for Audi was £236 compared to £208 for BMW and £188 for Mercedes-Benz (See table).
The survey found that up to six year old the three brands charge comparable prices for routine work like servicing, new batteries and braking and exhaust systems.
In fact in year one Audi was cheapest for repairs and servicing. But after six years Audi’s become more expensive to maintain.
“A noticeable and consistent gap only opens up beyond a car’s sixth birthday. At this stage garages’ quotes for Audi repair work trend around £50 above Mercedes and £25 above BMW,” it said.
This is the second time that Audi has been found to be the most expensive to maintain of the three brands. A similar survey carried out by WhoCanFixMyCar in 2014 reached the same conclusion.
Each month 7,500 garages and mechanics submit 35,000 quotes to the website.
