Tesla has launched a new program to enable potential buyers to schedule test drives remotely by unlocking its cars through the Tesla app.
The updated Tesla app allows users to book a test drive through the website or app, upload their driving licence and unlock a Tesla Model 3 or Model Y from within the Tesla app for an hour.
The Tesla app offers remote unlocking of cars by bluetooth, as well as heating, charging, camera control.
The program was launched at Tesla’s remote test drive locations in Perth (Scotland), Carlisle, Shannon (Ireland) and Merry Hill.
This is an expansion on its first unstaffed remote test drive hub in Sweden and Perth (Scotland) from earlier this year. These test drive locations are completely remote and unstaffed.
In the future, Tesla plan to have all test drives across the UK and Ireland managed through the Tesla app, so customers can self-schedule a test drive.
