Sandown Mercedes is Auto Trader Retailer of the Year

The Auto Trader Retailer Awards 2023 marked the first time since its launch in 2007 that van and bike retailers were recognised alongside their car dealing counterparts.

In the car category the Retailer of the Year, was awarded to nine businesses in total, including Phil Weaver (under 50 cars), GBI Cars (50-100 cars), and Sandown Mercedes (over 100 cars).

For vans, the Retailer of the Year accolade went to Roy Wood Transit (under 20 vans), Herts & Essex Van (20-50 vans), and Van National (over 50 vans).

And in motorcycles the award went to and Marque One (under 20 bikes), 5-Ways Motorcycle Centre (20-50 bikes), and Destination Triumph (over 50 bikes).

The winners of the Customer Experience Award were Livingstone Motor Group (under 50 cars); Simpson’s Skoda (50-100 cars); and Ray Chapman Motors (over 100 cars).

Of the nine categories, four were self-nomination: The Innovation Award, which recognised a retailer that had successfully implemented a bold innovation that’s markedly improved its business;

The People & Culture Award, which identified those businesses that are going above and beyond to provide the very best working culture for its colleagues; and The Sustainability Initiative Award, which showcased the best examples of businesses taking steps to lower their carbon emissions and help combat climate change.

Auto Trader group sales director, Rebecca Clark, said: “It’s always such a joy to recognise our industry’s most exceptional retailers, but this year felt particularly special to also celebrate van and bike businesses, who are in every way as inspiring as their car counterparts.

“The industry has and is changing at a pace, but again we see the huge innovation and agility of retailers, and so it’s a privilege to be able to celebrate those businesses that are truly driving our industry forward. Their achievements give me nothing but confidence for the months ahead.”
