Vauxhall releases advance details of new Corsa GSi

Following Ford’s recent reveal of the third-generation Fiesta ST, Vauxhall has announced plans to revive the Corsa GSi. This will be the first time in 25 years the GSi nameplate has featured in the Corsa line up.

The new GSi will be based on the same tuned chassis underpinning the existing Corsa VXR, including the suspension and brakes (with painted red calipers). Firmer springs and competition-tuned dampers offer improved body control and greater control in both wet and dry conditions.

The three-door model will also share a series of VXR-inspired exterior features, including front air intakes and a honeycomb-style grille, extended sills, a rear spoiler and chrome tailpipe.

Moving to the interior, the GSi will include leather Recaro seats that deliver a lowered driving position. A leather sports steering wheel and aluminium pedals add to the sporting theme. As with other Corsa variants, the GSi will feature the Vauxhall IntelliLink infotainment system, which incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Vauxhall will release more details about the GSi – including engine specifications – later in the year.
