Volkswagen dealers have started taking orders for the all-new Beetle several months ahead of it reaching UK showrooms.
Prices for the car range from £16,490 to £21,220. VW confirmed orders taken now will be delivered in spring 2012.
At launch, two petrol engines will be available: a 1.2-litre TSI 105 PS and a 1.4-litre 160 PS TSI. A 2.0-litre TDI 140 PS diesel and 2.0-litre TSI 200 PS petrol will be added to the line-up later in 2012.
Three trim levels will be available: Beetle, Design and Sport. Standard kit will include air conditioning, DAB radio and rear Isofix seat preparation.
VW also revealed it would offer an optional sound system pack developed by Fender, the electric guitar maker. This will offer offers a 400W output and a subwoofer, along with switchable three-colour illumination surrounding the front loudspeakers, and will retail for £495.
