City Auction Group develops new logistics facility

City Auction Group will launch a new 28-acre site to house the Headquarters of its logistics business, PurpleRock, in September.

This will expand capacity with an additional 5,000 vehicles across defleet, logistics and secure storage. The site will be located off the A1, north of Peterborough.

Michael Tomalin, CEO of City Auction Group, said: “This is a game changer for the business, further expanding our UK footprint.  It’s a significant investment for the Group, enabling us to further strengthen our logistics offering, with a dedicated facility in the heart of the UK.

“Over the coming months, we will be developing further the logistics facilities across NW, Scotland and Northern Ireland to complement our new PurpleRock Headquarters.”

PurpleRock provides vehicle defleet, logistics and repair solutions, across twelve locations.

Major hub centres are located in Peterborough and Belfast with storage capabilities of over 10,000 vehicles, inspection services to BVRLA or NAMA, CarScanner 360 video technology, vehicle refinishing services, secure managed storage compounds and in-life management.

Tomalin said: “These are exciting times for the business as we continue our growth aspirations to operate in unison with our remarketing business, City Auction Group.

“I would like to thank the whole team at PurpleRock for their tremendous hard work and commitment securing and developing this new site.  Opening in September 2024, the new facility will feature modular offices and a conference centre, plus enhanced vehicle processing facilities.”
