Auto Trader reveals July’s most in-demand new EV

The Honda e:NY1 is July’s most in-demand new EV, according to Auto Trader. Generating more enquiries than all other models, the vehicle also accounted for more than one in every 10 EV leads sent to a retailer.

Affordability is key as the model’s rise to the top has been attributed to a combination of large discounts, deposit contributions and finance offers.

Auto Trader’s new car performance director, Bex Kennett, said: “It will be interesting to see what other tactics manufacturers deploy over the coming months to move the needle, as they try to balance volume with the increasing pressure of the looming ZEV Mandate requirements.

“More choice, better deals, and getting in front of more new car buyers will be key.”

Since July last year, average discounts have risen from 6.6% to 8.7%. Three quarters of all new cars now offer some level of discount. The average discount applied to EVs at the moment is 10.6%.

The second most in-demand new EV was the Hyundai IONIQ 5, followed by the Nissan Leaf, the Tesla Model 3, MG’s MG4, the Kia EV6, the Kia EV9, the Lotus Eletre, the Audi Q8 e-tron and CUPRA’s Born.
