SsangYong dealers will be selling a larger version of its popular Tivoli compact SUV from this summer.
The Tivoli XLV was first shown as the XLV Air concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015 and follows last year’s launch of the well-received standard Tivoli.
The five-seater, for which UK prices and full specifications have yet to be announced, shares the platform and the 2,600mm wheelbase of the existing Tivoli, but boasts a bodyshell extended by 238mm. The longer size significantly boosts the car’s luggage capacity from 423 to 720 litres.
XLV models will go on sale with the same 115PS 1.6-litre turbodiesel already offered in the standard Tivoli. It will be matched to either a six-speed manual or six-speed auto transmission and both two or all-wheel drive versions will be available.
“Following rapid growth in the compact SUV market, SsangYong responded in 2015 by launching the Tivoli, its first small SUV, and already the company’s most successful new car. Some 64,000 cars were manufactured and sold around the world last year,” said Paul Williams, CEO of SsangYong Motor UK.
“Tivoli has been praised universally for meeting a number of customer requirements, not least its ability to carry five adults in comfort and with one of the largest boot capacities, while many other cars in the sector are regarded as being a down-size too far.
SsangYong quotes best combined cycle fuel economy figures of 62.8mpg for the XLV, along with CO2 emissions of 117g/km, both on 2WD manual variants.
Dealers will be able to offer a strong standard specification, led by a safety package that includes seven airbags, multi-function ESP (Electronic Stability Program), Active Rollover Protection, Brake Assist, Hill Start Assist and ESS (Emergency Stop Signal), a tyre pressure monitoring system and a warning reminder on all five seat belt positions.
All models also come with digital-dual zone automatic air conditioning, an RDS radio infotainment, a seven-inch high-resolution touch screen, USB/AUX port, iPod & Bluetooth connectivity, Tom-Tom navigation, a rear view camera, auto headlights and wipers, cruise control, front and rear parking sensors and roof rails.
The XLV will also be covered by the brand’s five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
