Automotive charity Ben appoints new CEO

Automotive industry charity Ben has appointed Rachel Clift as its new CEO, effective 1 November 2024, succeeding Zara Ross, who is retiring.

Clift is Ben’s current health and wellbeing director. Her appointment made by the Board of Trustees follows a recruitment process that included internal and external candidates. She joined Ben in September 2018, overhauling its health and wellbeing offer to the industry.

Ross served as Ben’s CEO since July 2016, instigating strategic reviews with the Board of Trustees, navigated the COVID pandemic and establishing a culture of quality, support, and innovation throughout the organisation.

She also increased efficiency through technological advances and oversaw a refit at Ben’s Town Thorns Care Centre.

Steve Nash, CEO of The Institute of the Motor Industry, and chair of Ben’s Trustee Board, said: “We are confident that Rachel will bring the expertise, inspiration, drive, and leadership needed to steward Ben through its next strategic phase.

Zara Ross said: “Being CEO of Ben for the past eight years has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career.”

Rachel Clift said: “I’m thrilled to be assuming the role of CEO at Ben and I’m excited about leading the charity through its biggest phase of transformation yet.”
