The all-new SUV-style Peugeot 3008 will debut in UK showrooms in January 2017.
It is 100kg lighter than its predecessor, using high strength steel, thermoplastic for the boot floor and tailgate and aluminium wings, front suspension arms and rear seat frames.
The engines are also quieter and need less sound deadening materials than previously.
Within the cabin occupants will notice one of the most visible areas of new technology in the latest i-Cockpit – the 3008 is the first Peugeot production model to be fitted with the updated version of the digital display.
The system offers two driving environments, “Relax” for unhurried travel and “Boost” to suit more enthusiastic progress.
Connectivity options include the MirrorScreen function transferring the screen from a connected smartphone to the car’s centre console touchscreen, induction Smartphone recharging and 3D connected navigation. The 3008 also debuts an acoustic system designed by French specialist Focal.
The engines are Euro 6 units, ranging across three versions of the 1.2-litre PureTech 130 petrol engine, a 1.6 petrol of 165PS, 1.6-litre diesels in 100 or 120 outputs and 2.0 diesels with 150 or 180PS.
Depending on engine manual or auto transmissions are offered, and lowest CO2 emissions figures are 115g/km for the petrol units and 100g/km on the diesels.
UK dealers will open order books for the 3008 in November.
